Accessorize the Bohemian Way....

Lately, I've been feeling the Bohemian vibe. Something about the unconventional comfort of "bohemian" is very appealing to me, calling for me to bring out my inner hippie. An easy way to add an instant bohemian feeling to any outfit is to bring on the accessories! Layer a few long necklaces, bangle bracelets, chunky rings, or dangly earrings. These can be made of almost anything- beads, crystals, wood, metals, pearls, leather, etc. Head bands and silk scarves are super functional also! A wide belt can be worn with a tunic, or peasant blouse, to show off, or accentuate your waist. Some bohemian looks I absolutely adore: A belted tunic blouse over leggings tucked into boots, tailored trousers with a feminine peasant blouse and a gorgeous pair of chandelier earrings, or a short dress with high boots. Whatever the occasion, a little boho is aways a good thing!

Bohemian....

Something about bohemian style always reminds me of my little cousin playing dress up. She absolutely loves things that float and twirl, sparkle and shine, and she is definitely not afraid of color! Her main goal is to feel pretty, comfortable (this is why she refuses to wear jeans, too scratchy!), and have fun! Bohemian style has that laid-back, comfortable, "I am pretty" kind of attitude. This is a style that is definitely self expressive. It is a free-spirited dove that dresses to please themselves, not others. From peasant blouses to faux fur vests, its adding 'peace and love' to your style. Tunics can be worn as a mini dress, but when in doubt a tunic is most flattering when paired with long tailored trousers, jeans, or belted with leggings. Bohemian style is individualistic and creative, and anyone can incorporate elements of bohemian style into their everyday looks. Who doesn't love to play dress up, right!?

Put That Bootie On!

Walking through Banana Republic, with very fabulous company ;), I encountered something beyond words, a "fashion miracle" if you will (No, Jesus was not standing there in a gorgeous BR men's suit). A sign, a GLORIOUS sign, proclaiming "Take an extra 50% off" ... Ok, and it gets better... Not just off of regular price, but SALE price! C'mon ladies, who's not excited now?! These darling little ankle booties were staring at me, longing to be tried on. As I pick up the bootie, I turn it over to see a sale price of 36$. Soooo, half of that, ARE YOU KIDDING ME?!? I look around for hidden cameras, none. I ask C to pinch me, OUCH! This is for real. An ah-mazing deal on an AH-mazing shoe! What a glorious day..... ;) Ankle boots have been walking down the runway since the fluorescent days of the 80's. These fabulous little "shoe booties" started peeking out of trouser legs, and have now graduated to skinny jeans and skirts! Feeling a little flirty, and a bit funky... throw on a pair of ankle booties with your favorite cocktail dress and walk into the party like you OWN the place! Pair them with a pair of black tights and you're ready for the runway. If wearing ankle boots with pants, a great trick to make your legs look miles, and miles long, are to keep the colors the same. Black skinnies tucked into black booties will keep your legs going, and going, and who doesn't want legs that are miles long?! So, for your next cocktail party, or night out on the town, take little risk and enjoy a little "bootie!" Flaunt your fabulous legs!

Dear J. Crew... I love you.

Honestly, I have a love affair with J. Crew that will last forever. J. Crew's classic style is ever appealing to so many. From classic prep, to vintage glam, there is a huge variety of mix and match pieces. Not only the clothing is amazing, the jewelry and shoes are Bah-nanas (channeling my inner Rachel Zoe)! Their sales are incredible right now... an extra 40% off sale prices... What fashionista on a budget doesn't love that!?! Here are a few looks I adore...

Cocktail, darling??

Ah... the ever adored 'Cocktail Ring' is an absolute favorite of mine. Bold, sparkly, chic... Let's just say I'm in love... Just added to my ever growing collection (thanks sister!) is this gorgeous 'House of Harlow" piece. It just takes me away to a white sand beach, with sparkling turquoise water. I can picture myself on the shore, wearing this little beauty and sipping a margarita... I can dream, RIGHT!?! Whether wearing your favorite jeans, or a gorgeous little black dress, throw on a bold, blinding cocktail ring, and the power of transformation is undeniable! This glittery friend of ours brings us even that much closer to FABULOUS! Waving it around at a party while you are mingling, or twirling it on your little finger is absolutely one of the best ways to amp up your 'style' and make a statement. Fun Fact: The term 'cocktail ring' emerged during Prohibition, when women would wear large, bold rings to illegal cocktail parties. A woman would flit her hand around, drawing attention to the bauble, to let you know that not only was she drinking illegally, she was doing it with style (Nina Garcia, 'The One Hundred"). That makes it even MORE fun to wear!! The great thing about the cocktail ring is that it does not have to be real- in most cases a great big piece of fake costume jewelry is preferred (hello Forever 21!). Therefore, you don't have to spend the 'ca-ching' to get the 'bling, bling!' Can it get better than this?! So be BOLD, ADVENTUROUS, FABULOUS! Get your bling on!

The sun is shining, but it's a bit chilly outside... Time to put on the tights ladies!! Don't rush to put away those mini skirts or spring dresses. Just add a pair of tights and a boyfriend cardi, and you are one chic girl. Black opaque tights have been walking the streets since the early 60's, and have graduated into all colors and textures. These 'leggy wonders' can lead way to an ultra edgy outfit, or a miraculously longer, slimmer looking leg (Yes please!)! Wear matching color tights and boots (ex: black tights, black boots) to create a long, sleek line. Throw on a mini with tights, and bypass the thought...'Is this skirt too short??' Feeling a little "Punky Brewster-ish?" Put on your favorite pair of bright colored tights to add the funk! Some of my favorite colored tight/colored shoes combinations are black tights with grey, or bright green shoes, mustard tights with brown/black shoes, and grey tights with pink or a funky animal print shoe. The goal is to have fun and play with color..... be bold!!

Bubbly?? Yes Please!!

Champagne glistens and sparkles like a million Swarovski crystals floating in a beautiful sea of gold! What is New Years Eve without a beautiful, delicious bottle of quality champagne?! Champagne is the choice drink of celebrations big, small, or just because its Thursday!! Life is ever changing, so why save your best clothes, or best bottle of champagne for big events?? Throw on that gorgeous Nicole Miller dress you have hanging in the back of your closet, put on those ah-mazing Jimmy Choos, and pour yourself a nice, dazzling glass of bubbly...seize the day! A toast to all of you!

Cheers!
